Brian Miller, CNP, Named Employee of the Month

03/16/2010
Pioneer Memorial Hospital & Health Services March Employee of the Month is Brian Miller, CNP, Certified Nurse Practitioner at Parker Medical Clinic, Parker, SD.

Miller joined the Parker Medical Clinic in September of 2007. Prior to that, he worked for four years at Sanford Clinic Acute Care in Sioux Falls. He was no stranger to Turner County when he came to Parker, however, as he had worked at the Viborg Medical Clinic for about two years before leaving to join the Sanford Clinic.

The following comments were made by the individual nominating him, “Brian Miller is a major asset to PMH&HS for his medical skills and knowledge of his job, his people skills, and for his desire to do his best for not only his patients but also their families. He understands the needs of his patients and strives to do what he can for them. Even after treating his patients he continues to check up on them, months after he has given them his expertise. Brian collaborates well with his co-workers, contributes to team efforts, and recognizes the good qualities in everyone. Brian always carries a smile. He is kind and thoughtful, and everyone – employees, patients, residents, and families, consider him to be their friend. He never forgets a face.”

Other comments received include, “Brian’s compassion makes him the type of provider that everyone ‘looks for’. He listens and cares, not only with his patients, but his family coworkers and friends.”

Brian and his wife, Wendy, have two sons Beau and Gabriel “Gabe”. An enthusiastic runner, Brian and his entire family recently ran a mini-marathon together. He enjoys doing home improvement projects and has completed many on his farm.

Brian is also an avid read and enjoys learning new things. He adds, “In my free time I enjoy going to Jim’s Feed and Farm Supply Store in Parker and buying new and exotic grasses to grow on my farm.” Brian grew up in the rural Hurley area and graduated from Freeman High School. He completed his undergraduate work at Bethel College and his graduate degree for Certified Nurse Practitioner at South Dakota State University in Brookings, graduating in 1999.

Miller commented, “I always felt comfortable with the people in Parker and have known many of them my entire life. My favorite part of my job is getting to know new people and getting better acquainted with the ones that I have known. I especially like working with the staff in Parker, and they are all more deserving of employee of the month than I am.”
