Cardiac Rehab Services

Cardiac Rehabilitation programs involve four phases. We do Phases II and III and IV at Pioneer Memorial Hospital & Health Services.

Phase I
  • Implemented as an inpatient program.
  • Consists of education and low-level exercise
  • Designed for patients who have had a myocardial infarction, stable angina or coronary artery bypass surgery
  • Occurs in hospital setting
Phase II
  • Implemented as an outpatient program
  • Designed to increase cardiovascular condition through exercise
  • Provides education on coronary artery disease, risk factors, healthy nutrition, and exercise
  • Monitored by RNs who are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Encourages family participation
  • Designed for patients with stable angina, post heart attack, post balloon angioplasty/stent, or coronary artery bypass grafting
  • Covered by Medicare and most insurance plans
You must be referred by a physician for the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. Cardiac Rehab is scheduled on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Pioneer Memorial.

Phase III
  • Implemented as an outpatient program
  • Designed for individuals who want to develop an independent exercise program to increase cardiovascular condition
  • May be a continuation from Phase II for participants who desire additional guidance in their exercise program, or who are at a high risk for cardiac problems.
  • A self-pay program

The physical therapy team directs the Phase III program at Pioneer Memorial.

Phase IV:

This is a transitioning phase back into one's normal routine, and is directed by our physical therapy team.
