The Pioneer Memorial Foundation, along with the family of the late Marie Swensen, has established a scholarship program to assist a senior at Viborg-Hurley School, who is planning to pursue a nursing degree at a post-secondary two or four year college, university or vocational-technical program. The scholarship is available on a yearly basis for full-time study at any accredited post-secondary institution the student chooses.
This year, the Pioneer Memorial Foundation is excited to announce the selection of Elizabeth Benavente as the student to receive the Marie Swensen – Pioneer Memorial Nursing Scholarship in the amount of $2,000. Elizabeth graduated from Viborg-Hurley School this year, and plans to pursue a career in nursing this fall.
Elizabeth was chosen based upon her academic record, participation in school and community activities, and her educational plans to complete a degree in nursing.
