Patti Timmermans

Patti Timmermans, DPT

Patti graduated from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, and obtained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Amanda Marts

Amanda Marts, PT, MSPT

Amanda graduated from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, with a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy and then obtained her Master's Degree in Exercise Science and a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy at USD in 2002. She has specialized training in Women's Health Physical Therapy and was certified in the LSVT BIG program in 2016 to work with Parkinson's patients.

Kristeen Kingsbury

Kristeen Kingsbury, DPT

Kristeen graduated from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology in 2007 and obtained her Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy at USD. Kristeen is the main physical therapist providing services at our Parker Outpatient Therapy Services location in the Parker Medical Clinic and she also provides PT services in Viborg.

Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapists, Lisa Wixon and Andrea Flyger, help people improve their ability to perform tasks in their daily living and working environments. They help clients not only to improve their basic motor functions and reasoning abilities, but also to compensate for permanent loss of function. Their goal is to help clients lead independent, productive, and satisfying lives.

Pioneer Memorial Hospital & Health Services occupational therapists provide treatments for many conditions including:

  • Wrist/Hand/Arm Fractures

  • Tendonitis of the Elbow/Wrist/Hand

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

  • Upper Extremity Pain

  • Upper Extremity Weakness

  • Arthritis

  • Splint Fabrication for Upper Extremity

Occupational therapists also provide assistance with:

Andrea Flyger

Lisa Wixon, MS, OTR/L

Lisa graduated from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and then obtained her Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy at USD in 1994. Lisa has worked at Pioneer memorial since 1999 and provides OT services at PMH&HS, our Parker Outpatient Therapy Services location in the Parker Medical Clinic, as well as Bethesda of Beresford.

Andrea Flyger

Andrea Flyger, MS, OTR/L

Andrea graduated from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and then obtained her Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy at USD in 2009. Andrea has worked at Pioneer Memorial since 2013 and provides OT services at PMH&HS, our Parker Outpatient Therapy Services location in the Parker Medical Clinic, Centerville Public School in Centerville, as well as Canton Inwood Hospital. Andrea is also one of our Parkinson’s Support Group Leaders.

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy includes evaluation and treatment of various communication and/or swallowing disorders. Some causes of speech and language disorders are related to hearing loss, stroke, neuromuscular disorders, head injury, viral diseases, Parkinson's Disease, etc.

Speech-Language Therapy provides help for those:

  • Needing voice therapy

  • Having problems with swallowing

  • With memory problems

  • With cognitive problems (word finding, problem solving, etc)

  • With a speech disorder (apraxia or dysarthria)

  • With a language disorder

Meet our Speech Therapist:

Abby Halvorson

Abby Halvorson, SLP-CFY

Abby graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2014 and obtained her Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology at USD in 2017. Abby has worked at Pioneer Memorial since 2017 and provides ST services at PMH&HS, Parker Medical Clinic, Bethesda of Beresford nursing home, SD Birth-3, as well as the Canton-Inwood hospital. She is certified in Lee Silverman Voice Therapy for patients with Parkinson’s disease and Vital Stim for patients with dysphagia.

Wellness Programs

Pioneer Memorial Hospital & Health Services Therapy Department manages two Wellness Programs:

  • Open Wellness
  • Rehab Wellness

The Open Wellness program utilizes exercise equipment in our Holiday Room located in the lower level of the facility. It is an independent program open to the community. Rehab Wellness is for individuals 55 years or over and is supervised by the therapy staff.
