The South Dakota Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) held their Spring Symposium on March 27 & 28, 2025 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the Ramkota Convention Center. At the end of the day on Thursday, several members were acknowledged for their accomplishments.
Anne Christiansen, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with Pioneer Memorial Hospital and Health Services in Viborg, South Dakota is the 2025 recipient of the Medal of Honor Award. This distinguished award is a testament to Anne’s outstanding contributions, as it can only be earned after receiving the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards from HFMA. Her 33 years of dedication to the organization is further exemplified by her leadership roles, including serving as the chapter president from 2009 to 2010, and her impactful work on the National Advisory Council for HFMA from 2013 to 2015. Her commitment to advancing the field of healthcare finance has set a high standard, and this honor celebrates her significant and lasting impact on the profession. Anne has worked for Pioneer Memorial Hospital & Health Services in Viborg, SD for 33 years.
Anne lives outside Viborg with her husband Rob. They have 4 children Sean (Jessica), Eric (Ashley), Megan (Walter) and Jacia (AJ). She has 5 grandchildren and 1 due in July; Levi, Miles, Kyler, Wrenley, and Waylon.
