Jen Westra, Medical Assistant for the Centerville Medical Clinic, has been named as the November Employee of the Month. Jen started working with Pioneer Memorial July 2005.
In Jen’s role, she is responsible for rooming patients, completing intake information, and reviewing medical history to prepare individuals for their visit. She measures height, weight, and BMI at each appointment and assists providers with exams, minor procedures, and treatments. Jen performs a wide range of point-of-care testing—such as blood glucose checks, urine dipsticks, strep and flu tests, and various other rapid diagnostics essential to timely patient care. She also administers immunizations and documents them accurately in the medical record. In addition, Jen conducts basic X-rays in accordance with clinic protocols and safety standards. She maintains exam room cleanliness and ensures supplies are fully stocked, helping create a safe, organized, and patient-ready environment at all times. She has completed Phlebotomy training and has an X-ray machine operator certificate. She had also completed her CNA degree.
Jen lives in Centerville with her family that includes her husband, John of 21 years, and daughter, Kiylee (19 years old) who is attending SDSU for nursing, and son Jaxon (16 years old).
When she is not at work, she spends time with friends and family, going to kids sporting events, coaching softball, and anything crafty.
Those who nominated Jen said she is very hard working, accommodating, and dedicated to the patients and the community. She always goes above and beyond and always wears a smile. Jen has a kind spirit and a caring heart. She has amazing rapport with the patients and they LOVE her!
When asked what she thought of the award Jen stated, “This is a great honor to know that you are making a difference and your co-workers are noticing!”
