Pioneer Memorial Honors Community Volunteer of the Year

The Annual Pioneer Memorial Volunteer Luncheon went underway on April 10th, 2019. It was a time to say thanks to the many community volunteers that help make our health system one of the best in the area. The theme for the luncheon was “Every Moment Makes the Difference!”

Each year during this event Pioneer Memorial gives out an award to the Community Volunteer of the Year. This year the award was presented to Lavonne Johnson, who has been volunteering at Pioneer Memorial for over 18 years … and still counting. Director of Activities, Jenn Eli, presented the award, whom Eli stated, “Lavonne has been known to take time out of her day to do anything from reading a letter to a resident, to serving water to the residents every morning, and to helping them with daily tasks. Her smile is always present, and she also spends 3 days a week volunteering her time in the Gift Shop, and is always the first to sign up to help with facility events.”

Lavonne is also busy with her family – her sons, Donald and John who both live in Colorado, and daughters, Charlotte and Teresa, who live here locally. Her children have blessed her with 8 grandchildren who in turn have blessed her with 21 great grandchildren.

We would like to thank Lavonne for her numerous moments of volunteering and for her genuine smile and caring attitude that she has around our residents.

We look forward to many more years of Lavonne’s smile and service to our facility!
