Pioneer Memorial Laboratory has zero deficiencies on survey from Department of Health

The South Dakota Department of Health recently cited no deficiencies at Pioneer Memorial Hospital and Health Services’ Laboratory.

The deficiency-free rating is a result of the State of South Dakota’s precise evaluation of our laboratory’s compliance with standards for quality and safety as well as their compliance with the regulations of Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). CLIA regulations include federal standards applicable to all U.S. facilities and sites that test human specimens for health assessment or to diagnose, prevent, or treat disease. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), in partnership with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA), supports the CLIA program and clinical laboratory quality.

“Maintaining laboratory quality takes continuous effort each and every day. Our deficiency-free status means we follow all regulatory requirements and demonstrate to our communities that our team is dedicated to provide quality patient care”, said Laboratory Director Tracy Roth.

The Pioneer Memorial Laboratory team includes L-R: Kalsey Larsen, Beth Towne, Allison Carithers, MaryJo Strehlo, and Tracy Roth (Director). A comprehensive menu of clinical laboratory testing includes all areas of Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Microbiology.
