Pioneer Memorial Supports Immunization Awareness Month

To celebrate the importance of immunizations throughout life, and to remind all ages that they need vaccines, Pioneer Memorial Hospital & Health Services is recognizing August as National Immunization Awareness Month.  This is the perfect opportunity to make sure everyone is protected against diseases like flu, whooping cough, tetanus, shingles, and pneumococcal disease.

The specific vaccines people need is determined by factors such as age, lifestyle, risk conditions, locations of travel and previous vaccines.  Everyone should talk to their health care professionals to make sure they are up-to-date on vaccines recommended for them.

“As a parent and a medical provider, I not only know the importance of vaccines from a professional standpoint, but also from a personal one.  It’s easy to search the Internet for information on vaccines, but too often the information is not found or is not based on evidence.  Vaccines are important for persons of all ages and I urge people with questions or concerns to speak with their medical provider about what vaccines are recommended and why.  Let’s keep our kids and community safe by staying up-to-date on recommended vaccinations!” – Tara Lee, CNP Pioneer Memorial Viborg Medical Clinic
