Pioneer Memorial Hospital was founded in 1959 as a private not-for-profit organization, owned by the community. It is independently governed by a local nine-member Board of Directors.
In 1991, Pioneer Memorial aligned itself with Sanford Health (formerly Sioux Valley Hospitals & Health System) under a management agreement. This integration with a larger health system helps provide the expertise needed to expand and develop our services.
Over the years, several additions have been made to the Pioneer Memorial organization.
