Pioneer Memorial Hospital & Health Services is excited to announce Breanne Nelsen as being the new Activities Director for Long-Term Care!
Prior to joining Pioneer Memorial, Breanne was the Activities Assistant which led to Activities Director at Centerville Care & Rehab since 2018. During her role there, she found a new passion working front line activities and enjoyed the opportunity to connect with residents and hearing their life stories. She especially enjoyed her role in the summer, when she was able to engage residents in outdoor activities. Prior to her position in Centerville, she was employed with Dow Rummel Village in Sioux Falls, and took pride in being the Home Health Coordinator for them. Breanne has a strong passion for the elderly and continues to educate herself on Dementia / Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
Breanne was born and raised in Sioux Falls. She has lived in rural Centerville for the past 4 years with her husband, Justin, and their 10 month old daughter, Jaycee. During her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and extended family. She enjoys home remodels, as they have been remodeling their farmhouse for the past two years. She also enjoys watching movies, camping, hunting, and spending time at the Missouri River.
Breanne commented, “I am very excited to get to know the residents at Pioneer Memorial and hear their life stories. I look forward to connecting with all the staff members that pride themselves on being a very connected team.”
As the new Activities Director, one of Breanne’s goals is to increase the volunteer involvement and implement new volunteer opportunities. Breanne commented, “The residents of Viborg and surrounding communities are very proud of having Pioneer Memorial Hospital & Health Services, which provides the right care, right next door. Volunteering time to be with our residents is an excellent way to give back to our community. There are many different opportunities for volunteering available, and by sharing your time and talent, you contribute to making our residents’ lives extra special.”
